Food

Protecting North America’s waterways starts at home with the food we eat, how it is grown, packaged, and transported.  Our goal it to eat organic foods with limited amounts of packaging and transportation thoughout the North American Odyssey.

Responsibly harvesting fish and edible plants, buying organic foods from farmers' markets, and Community Supported Agriculture programs are some of the ways we plan to fuel our bodies with the 4,000 to 7,000 calories that we burn each day on the trail.

This section contains information about the food we eat on the trail as well as current information about the benefits of organic and locally grown foods.

Himalayan Salt lampSince the beginning of life on earth, natural salt has been an essential element used by ocean flora, animals, and people. Himalayan Salt that comes from the earth is composed of eighty-four elements that are vital to life. These nutrients are the same elements found in our bodies for maintaining optimum health. Our bodies contain the same salt fluid (water and natural salt,) as that found in the primordial sea. No manufacturing company can create a substance that matches the healing and health properties of natural salt. For example, when one s diet becomes deficient in trace elements, their cells lose the ability to manage their ions. The result of a loss in ion balance is the bursting of the body s cells which causes a whole host of health problems.

LA Nail Salon Uses A More Natural Nail Polish

recess at night- low resI don't go to nail spas anymore. I haven't been in one for about four or five years. When I tell my friends this, they are shocked and ask me why. My answer: nail spas are toxic. To find out if a nail spa is toxic, all you have to do is walk in, smell the air, and take a look around. If the air smells like chemicals and you see manicurists wearing masks, you'll know the products they use are toxic. It's not rocket science.

Fats have gotten a bad rap. Cruise any supermarket aisle, and the promises of “fat free” and “no trans fats” leap from the shelf.
