We had yet another beautiful day for paddling today. After resting all day yesterday, it felt good to paddle again. We are now only seven miles from Ottawa, and the number of houses along the river and powerboats zooming by is increasing. We stopped for lunch on a sandbar in the middle of the river because there was nowhere to stop along the shore. But it was fun being in the middle of the river because we got to watch the boats going by and the terns circling around above us. After lunch, we paddled the remaining 12 miles to Aylmer to stay with Andy and Stephanie Thompson the owners of Domain De L'O , the glampground we stayed at a few days ago. Stephanie cooked us the most amazing dinner of pasta, salad, and sausages from a local butchery of all sorts of amazing favors; cabbage & pork, and maple & bacon being just two of them. After dinner, they brought out some plums and cherries which were awesome! A delicious ending to a wonderful day. Today we saw three Blue Herons, a deer, many terns, a large gull rookery, and two small perch that Kieran, their son, caught. We paddled 23 miles today in six hours.
