We woke up to another beautiful morning, the water was calm and the air was a cool temperature; perfect for paddling. The sun came out a few hours before lunch though, making it another hot day, though not as hot as the past few days. We had an awesome tailwind all morning and by lunchtime we had paddled 18 miles, so we stopped at a public beach near Petawawa. Having a picnic table to eat at was a real treat! After lunch, we paddled past the town of Pembroke and were joined by many powerboats. Just past town, we went through a set of small, shallow rapids and met a man named Frank who said we could camp on his island at the end of the rapids. While were were eating dinner later, he came by with treats: some cookies, some tuna cakes for tomorrow's lunch, and some very refreshing Gatorade. What a treat! Thanks Frank! We saw two Blue Herons today, as well as tons of gulls, quite a few cormorants and loons, a catfish that Dan caught, many dragonflies, a deer, and a three foot long sturgeon that was swimming in water only a foot deep! We paddled 32 miles today in about nine and half hours.
