City Island, New York

Print PDF

Today was a great day for paddling. We were up with the sunrise and on the water quickly. The temperature was cool, but the rain held off. We had some sun in the morning, but the day turned cloudy after a few hours of paddling. Long Island Sound narrowed as we continued. Eventually, we could see the tall buildings of the New York City skyline. The light from the city had been visible last night. I can only imagine how bright it will be tonight! We were surprised to see five swans swimming along shore. They were very big. Two were immature, with grayish brown feathers. I am guessing that they are migrating through. We are not sure what kind of swans they are. Could you help us and do some research to figure out what kinds of swan can be found here?PA080660
