Fitzroy Harbour Provincial Park

We had yet another beautiful day on the Ottawa river today. It was a perfect temperature for paddling, and we had a great tailwind in combination with the current. We were just along for the ride today. After lunch we we portaged around the last dam before Ottawa! The suggested portage route was three miles long, but we found someone who let us use their yard to put in below the dam. This made the portage less than a mile long! We paddled a few more miles across Fitzroy Harbour to the Fitzroy Harbour Provincial Park campground. We had to walk way up the hill to check in, but the running water, flush toilets and showers are worth it. We bought some hot dogs and buns at the campground store and had an awesome dinner! Today we saw a few cormorants, a large gull rookery, quite a few dragonflies, and an Osprey family. We paddled 25 miles today in about eight hours.
