Lobster Buoy Campground, Maine

Print PDF

Today was one of those days that feels like three or four crammed into one. As we launched our kayaks around 6:30 a thick fog rolled in. Paddling past a rock outcrop, we could just make out the silhouettes of seals on top of the rocks. We paddled along the shore of Deer Isle and the fog finally lifted as we reached Stonington. The afternoon became bright and sunny. We made good progress today because there was not much wind to speak of. Near North Haven Island we ran into another couple out paddling. They were returning from a four day trip. They live in New Hampshire, so we hope to see them again! As we made our way past Rockland, then Owl's Head, we decided to camp in a campground. This gave us an opportunity to meet up with John and Pat again, because we knew they would be in Rockland today. They arrived in the campground with pizza and salad. It was such a treat to share another meal and great conversation with them.
