We have experienced more windy weather. A strong headwind yesterday forced us to land in Portland. That was just fine with us, because we wanted to stop and check out the area anyway. We portaged seven miles through South Portland. It was fun to portage. We were using our legs and not our arms. Also, we met several nice people who were excited to learn about the North American Odyssey. Our friend Ari helped us out by biking ahead and scouting out where we could launch in an estuary. We experienced the strong wind later in the day as we paddled a couple of miles in the estuary. We set up our tent in campground in Scarborough. Dinner with Ari and Emily was a fun treat – especially the homemade peach pie for dessert! We took today off from paddling and focused on making our first full web update of the school year. A wind from the northwest should reduce the swell out on the ocean tomorrow. We enjoyed the change of pace, but are eager to get back on the water.
