Microneedling and Laser
Both microneedling and laser work just enough to activate the body’s natural repair mechanism by damaging the skin. We use various mechanisms to create tiny skin lesions. Microneedling uses a portable tool that includes tiny needles for producing small pricks on the skin surface. The Laser provides the deeper skin layers with regulated energy, producing wounds in a specific pattern that leaves areas of the skin untreated between the wounds.
By kick-starting their skin repair processes, the body reacts to microneedling and Laser-created wounds. One outcome of this process is an increase in collagen production. The skin gets thicker, cleaner and more vibrant with fresh collagen.
Comparing the Microneedling versus laser
The less invasive of the two therapies is microneedling. This functions very superficially and causes no noticeable discomfort. Resurfacing Laser skin operates on deeper skin layers. It’s not unpleasant but it might be more intense than a therapy session of microneedling.
All therapies offer significant skin tone and texture changes. Because microneedling does not reach the deep layers of the skin, however, it is best suited for mild skin conditions, and the effects are usually less drastic than Laser.
Skin usually tingles a little after microneedling and looks slightly irritated — but there’s no recovery in general. The Laser treatment, on the other hand, typically leaves the skin red and swells for up to 10 days. Laser treatment may also offer a few days of downtime.
Microneedling is usually less costly than Laser, due in large part to technological differences. Lasers are an expense considerably greater than microneedling systems.
